Understanding Chief Brian Wright's History
Brian Wright, former New London police captain, has a history of unacceptable behavior, and his actions have caused harm to innocent citizens. Despite multiple attempts to reach out to him, he has never responded to any mail or email. This article sheds light on one such instance, where his excessive use of force resulted in a traumatic experience for the victim and in a formal employee disciplinary action submitted to City Council members by the NL Police Public Oversight Committee.
The Incident that Sparked Outrage
In 2015, a neighbor misinterpreted a text message from the victim and called the police with a false report. When the New London Police arrived, the victim explained that no one was suicidal and asked them to leave. But Captain Wright and his team, with full metal body-height shields, semi-automatic weapons, handguns, and a shotgun, prepared for a combat scenario. When the victim refused police entry, Officer Wright and his team forced their way into the house, causing the victim to be tackled onto the floor. Wright then proceeded to twist the victim's right arm backward, causing intense pain and what felt like torture.

Dysfunction of New London's Police System
The victim's screaming subsided when Wright let go of their arm, and they stood in handcuffs, explaining to Wright that he needed a warrant to make an entry. But the true dysfunction of the nl police and ga10 part b court system came to light when the police fabricated a story about the victim's parents feeling "so sure" that their son was going to "commit suicide," that they wanted to "drive far away." The police themselves, however created a fictional record by writing for the witnesses, then affixing photocopied signatures of each witnesses, likely taken from City Hall records where both photocopied signatures are stored. Accordingly, none of the alleged witness statements matched witnesses' handwritings, which were totally unfamiliar to the victim's family members/witnesses. Again, the unknown party's handwriting had only photocopied signatures beneath it.
The victim and their family requested to view the original documents with the actual signatures, but the police could not provide them. This showed the "NLPD witness documents" were faked by New London's police in order to justify an unlawful entry made in the absence of a warrant or any genuine risk to safety.
Wright's actions here, specifically his fabrication of the NL police witness reports are further, unacceptable examples of police misconduct in the City of New London, CT. The policing profession should not be staffed by bullies, thugs, or wannabe action heroes, but by healthy individuals who respect our criminal laws as well as the Federal and State civil rights that protect all New London residents equally. Chief Brian Wright should accept the oversight of New London's first official Public Oversight Committee rather than merely posing next to it.
Concluding Thoughts
It is time for the public to take notice of Brian Wright's actions and hold him accountable for his misconduct. The victim's traumatic experience is just one of the many instances that highlights the need for change in the New London police system. The police's fabrication of a false story about the victim's parents is an injustice that needs to be addressed and rectified. The policing profession is not for kids, gamers, or wannabe action heroes; it is a serious responsibility to move beyond those specific, unwritten policing practices that guide so many dysfunctional city police interactions with residents. The unwritten, organizational norms that perpetuate faulty or unlawful policing practices can cause surrounding communities and families great harm.
Revamp Unwritten Policing Practices
The community must urgently and collectively address New London's unwritten policing practices on the ground. The need to do this comes is simply the level of harm these specific, unwritten policing practices do to the community and to the families inside it.
This pressing task demonstrates the importance of having a strong and well organized public oversight committee to eliminate faulty the faulty practices that harm us while retraining police employees to adopt the breed of legitimate and helpful policing practices we all expect and deserve. A good deal of re-training will need to be provided on doggedly upholding residents' civil rights in all cases without exceptions.

Wow all New Londoners should read this about their police chief.
Indeed they should. Mr. Wright should resign immediately.
I think Chief Wright should quit the NLPD before we fire him. This is the reason we have a public oversight committee to start with. New London Police Department abuse will stop when we all make sufficient efforts to implement reforms to New London’s policing practices.
It is time to overhaul New London’s unwritten policing practices.
I think this post should include a quiz at the end just to make sure readers follow the actual behaviors of chief brian wright.
