Using Office of Adult Probation as A Tool for Bullying Victims Who Speak Up
My protest and signs made at vistaprint.com had just gotten the phone carrier's contract with the DOC terminated so that families like mine went from spending $250.00/month for inmate phone calls to having all calls be free. Warden Sexton at York CI called my probation officer Susan Purtill. According to Ms. Purtill, I was no longer allowed to communicate with the Warden or her staff, a condition that was not set by the Judge..

Just after 9:08 AM on April 13th, the Office of Adult Probation placed a phone call to the private cell phone of one our site admins, New London's, Jonathan Brand. According to Brand:

"The caller identified herself as an employee at the Office of Adult Probation and asked to speak with Mr. Ziolkowski, identifying the connection made between Mr. Ziolkowski and the GA10 Court's Court Support Services Division. The exact same trend occurred just before I was re-incarcerated for seven months last time around. Purtill, I was no longer allowed to communicate with the Warden or her staff, a condition that was not set by the Judge in my case. 4 Days after sending Warden Sexton a complaint for interfering with my probation, I was called into GA10 Court and incarcerated for a span of seven additional months." This time, the role of the Adult Probation Office appears to be the same, to silence my free speech plain and simple. It's exactly as it appears and it's against the law. Many in fact."

The New London Office of Adult Probation was straight forward in letting me know that they'd received a call about this website, to be fair in what I wrote, and they communicated clearly that the rest of the matter was protected free speech. On Russian social media, the following was posted:

Police and victim's family member embrace as a photoshopped-in Chief Brian Wright looks on, capturing the moment by drone.

Caption on Russian Social Media: "The city I live in Connecticut is permitting me to write articles critical of its officials and policing practices. I am on probation for protesting so they can do whatever they want. And the point is that in the US, in some cases, we really are free."

    1. So this is the author again, Jonathan Edmond Brand. I see that we have only one follow up comment and it looks fake to me. As a follow up to this follow up comment I’d like to leave a comment on my own article: today, Dec. 7, my P.O. or probation officer JD, told me that I would or could be violated if I continued to comment about Susan Purtil online. I had to mention her name again here least once because I have to reference who I’m referring to and because this website is the one an only place I recall posting something about Sue. There was one additional Susan P. post I made just before she had me sent to prison for 7 months in 2021. When she violated me for emailing the Warden against her personal wishes, I failed to appear in Court (5 days later) after sending York’s warden this additional email mentioned here, asking for visitation and criticizing the prison’s policies.

Again, the warden did not want to hear from me since my peaceful and lawful protest got DOC to make inmate phone calls free in the state. And again, the reason I was jailed for 7 months was for missing this court date on which Sue planned to violate me for emailing the warden (York’s Watden’s public email address is NOT given to the public for whatever reason) but, I’d found a way to her inbox through a carelessly coded AJAX post method on the CT DOC’s visitation page.

I was told by my current PO yesterday that if I continued to write about Sue online, it could be considered (criminal) “harassment.” At least I think he was referring to a crime as I do not recall any form of “non criminal” harassment on CT’s books. And while I disagree that a Judge would find it to be criminal or related to criminal harassment, I ought to listen and obey. Judges in my home state typically do whatever a PO wants. SO… I must not write any more about Susan Purtil here, because I could and will go to jail for it.

OK, so we are a little bit like Russia perhaps but we are not a totalitarian state yet, officially we are not, we are a simple Republic like China. This notion of a Judge jailing me at my PO’s request is only an example of an unofficial policy or at least an unspoken/unwritten one in my home city of New London CT. It happened last time with sue that disobeying a personal request from her landed me in Corrigan prison for 7 months.
